The Friday blog series, "Welcome to Our Town", introduces you to different towns/areas in Maryland, Washington, D.C. and Virginia. When contemplating purchasing a new home, it's always good to do your research on the area. We hope this blog helps you to choose your forever home in a fun and exciting town that you love...and when you find it, give us a call to discuss your financing options.
Welcome to Kent Island, the largest island in the Chesapeake Bay, and home of the first permanent European settlement in Maryland! This island was settled in 1631 by William Claiborne, who also happened to be the official surveyor of the Jamestown colony in Virginia. Before the settlers came to the island, it was inhabited for nearly 12,000 years by the Matapeake Indians. The island features an abundance of marinas and restaurants that attract visitors from nearby Baltimore, Annapolis and Washington, D.C. If you are looking for a nature hike, they are not in short supply here! There are numerous County parks, beaches, and hiking trails along the beautiful coastline of Kent Island. Here you will find just a few of our favorite places, spaces, and happenings!
