The Friday blog series, "Welcome to Our Town", introduces you to different towns/areas in Maryland, Washington, D.C. and Virginia. When contemplating purchasing a new home, it's always good to do your research on the area. We hope this blog helps you to choose your forever home in a fun and exciting town that you love...and when you find it, give us a call to discuss your financing options.
Welcome to Towson, MD! A suburb of Baltimore, Towson lies 11 miles north of Maryland's largest city. The community traces its roots to the mid-18th century when two Pennsylvania brothers, William and Thomas Towson, began farming the area. A small village (then called "Towsontown") soon developed, and in 1854 Towson officially became the Baltimore County Seat. A period of construction followed, leaving many structures built in distinctive 19th Century style that are still visible today.
Towson hosts a number of annual events. The Towsontown Spring Festival features over 400 vendors, along with a variety of ethnic foods and musical entertainment on four stages. The Maryland State Fair, held at the Timonium Fairgrounds, only 4 miles from Towson, features food, drink, music and fun for all ages. Here you will find a few of our favorite places and spaces!
