Welcome to Chestertown, MD; founded in 1706, it rose in stature when it was named one of the English colony of Maryland's six Royal Ports of Entry. By the mid-eighteenth century, it trailed only Annapolis and was considered the second leading port in the state. This town is situated along the Chester River and is home to one of the oldest colleges in the country, Washington College. Today you can stroll along the historic streets of downtown, exploring the eclectic shops, dining at an array of unique restaurants, and relaxing by the river. Here you will find just a few of our favorite places and spaces.
